Do you have anything better to do than to spout off stats about a high school which you won’t even care about in 10 years? High school just does not matter when you get into the real world.
TJ matters.
No, it really doesn't. You'll see in 10 years - high school just doesn't matter. No one will care if you went there. It's college and grad school and what you do there that will count.
DP. Parent of a sophomore. TJ is a bit weird in that it appears to have a very active alumni organization. I know severala adult grads, and the label sticks with you— at least in NOVA. And TJ alums donate heavily to the school, hire current students as interns and for Mentorships, hire younger alums for their first job, etc. For example, I have an alum who was a friend before DS got in. He is interested in a STEM adjacent niche. She knows a TJ alum who thinks TJ should have more offerings in that niche. He talked to DS about DS interning for him in summer 2019. A kid who is in a college DS is interested in came back for an event and offered to show DS around campus, introduce to professors, etc. We’ll see how this plays out. But the TJ allegiance among alums has surprised me. There is a very strong alum network. Formally, with the millions of dollars raised for the new labs in the renovation. But also informally. The mantra seems to “We’ve all survived the same battle” — and so they support each other. It feels more like a small college or professional school than a high school. So my guess is that TJ matters in an informal sort of way. TJ alums iAds impressive people who know impressive peopl, and are looking for ways to help,TJ students and connect with TJ alums. And that kids get internships, college and grad school admissions and scholarships , internships, jobs, grants, etc because a TJ alum helped in some way or connected them with someone.
You put it accurately. Parent of TJ grad who received internship while at TJ through a TJ grad.
