if you based it on school cut off date that would be one thing but these people that are suggesting the sept 1 plus 60 date are not basing it on local cut off date they are basing it on grade. So you and i both have a august 2011 kid. Your kid went to school on time and is starting 9th grade, I decided to hold my kid back and she is going to be in 8th grade Do you think it would be fair to your kid for my kid to get a waiver to play a year down because i chose to start my kid a year late. Thats what the plus 60 people want.
Not not playing down its playing with your grade if your district starts 30 or 60 days before 9/1. You dont understand.
Exactly, also technically a player born 30 or 60 days before 9/1 could regrade a year down and play on that team. However if you were born 30 or 60 days before 9/1 but are a grade older because of when your district started you can't play down. (Unless parents hold back their kid) Which mostly keeps this from happening. In the end cheaters are gonna cheat. 9/1 was ECNLs first attempt at addressing. Then they switched to 8/1 because of all the complaints. Knowing that this creates a new issue with Aug players playing down a grade. SY+30/60 addresses 99% of all issues with a single date cutoff. But there will still be a small percentage that choose to cheat. In this case they'll have to regrade their kid and they can't be more that 30 or 60 days before 9/1.
