Anyone think Gerry was an even bigger @ss to Leslie tonight? His saying he picked the woman who "knows how to nurture a relationship" seemed like a very mean dig at Leslie. He has a terrible mean streak imo and I completely believe he made that weight comment to his ex.
Someone got mad when I said much earlier in the thread that Leslie’s spotty relationship history was a red flag. Sorry, but if she has never been in a healthy, longterm relationship, who knows if she is capable if it. If that is what he seeks, Theresa at least knows the drill.
Yes, but he could have talked about their "similar histories and bond" without phrasing it as a direct dig to Leslie. I think it was callous. I get a cold vibe from him, but narcissists are very charming until they're not. The other ladies definitely view him very differently now. They were not happy for this couple, and I believe it's because they now have his number.
I gasped when he said that. "I chose the woman who knows how to nurture a long-term relationship." COME ON. He could simply have said: "I realized the level of trust and understanding between two people who suffered the loss of life-long loves was invaluable." It was framed as Theresa vs. Leslie, and was a low blow. Should Leslie have stayed after infidelity?
+1. This.
Yes, he had plenty of time to think about what he'd say to Leslie when he saw her.
He did, but it didn't matter anymore. That was behind the contrast. To him, a woman he'd just said he loved was just no longer important enough to care. That quick, that fast. Hope Theresa can keep up.
I find his seeming lack of genuine emotion scary.
Did you even see the show? He was crying and crying and saying how sorry he was for hurting her. He was saying that he wouldn't have even done the show if he knew how much pain he'd cause. He said his head was ready, but his heart was not prepared for breaking up with everyone. He is very genuine. He followed the producer's instructions by "giving into the process." And he was 100% in when he was with each person. That meant that he allowed himself to fully explore each possible future (which is the best way for him to find the right person), but it comes with the cost of hurting someone even more b/c they each believe that what he is showing them will turn out in the end. And it's clear from the set up of the show that one person is going to go home alone. He's not a tv-savvy person. He is just a midwestern guy who got picked to do the show and he followed their instructions to give into the process. Leslie had the rug pulled out from under her. Either she or Theresa was going to be crushed. It turned out to be Leslie. Someone had to be. At least Gerry did the right thing by telling Leslie before she got all dressed up and went to the platform. He allowed her to say all she wanted. If he had waited until the platform moment (like Zach did to Gabi -- and many others before), Leslie wouldn't have been in a position to lash out at him. Gerry took the lash out. He gave her that respect.
