The big ten has great camaraderie and the schools are humble with respect for all members. It is a great Midwestern roots polite group. The only school with a measure paranoid defensiveness is Michigan. [/quote]

Michigan folks have a thing about Northwestern being perceived as academically superior to U Michigan. Not started by NU related individuals; started by insecure U Michigan students--who have nothing about which to be insecure as Michigan is an outstanding university.[/quote]

It’s not defensive to point out unverifiable hyperbole.  Unless you are able to provide some relative data, perhaps provided by the world famous ISR at Michigan, then your comments are simply conjecture.  I’m certain that there are plenty of students at Michigan who feel that NU is not academically superior.  I’m even more certain that there are plenty of students at Northwestern who feel otherwise.  That doesn’t mean that blanket statements such as “paranoia defensiveness” that the poster used should go unchallenged as if they were fact. Frankly, it’s insulting. [/quote]
