"Crazed" is repeatedly insisting that gas prices are the result of Biden supposedly killing the oil industry when the data clearly shows that US oil production has been rising since Biden took office and we are currently producing at higher rates than any time for the entire 100 years from 1918-2018. It's higher than it ever was during Bush or Reagan, nearly double what it was 20 years ago.
+1 It’s not the drilling, it’s the refining. Thread: [twitter]https://twitter.com/laurasanicola/status/1537888842203529223?s=21&t=zmptlAHbtP2a_0TvxM8A-g[/twitter]
100% corporate controlled, and having exactly ZILCH to do with all of the right wing talking points about "but but but it's Biden policy" or "but but but it's Biden canceling KXL" or "but but but it's Biden canceling leases" or all of the other absolute bullshit that has been repeatedly proven over and over again to have absolutely zero credible or immediate impact on current prices at the pump.
+1 Oil and gas companies want the GOP back in full power forever, that much is clear. They’re reaping record profits (as price gouging does) and want the reckless GOP in charge again. Obviously they’re price gouging and shutting down production to create scarcity. They know there’s an army of Republican idiots who will do their PR for them that it’s the DeMoCrAtS fAuLt.
Production is not the issue, even with lowered OPEC+ production prompted by Trump intervention when oil market ranked in 2020. It’s near record highs in the US. The issue is refinery capacity. The US simply can’t refine enough to keep up with consumer demand for gasoline and distillates.
