Shiv doesn’t work for Waystar. She is a board member but otherwise has no official title we know of.

Also I don’t think Tom hates Shiv (though she probably hates him, for betraying her multiple times in pursuit of money/power).

It’s like Tom explained— he loves Shiv but she’s not a sure thing and she withholds. Tom wants security and doesn’t want to lose his wealth or status. The irony is that if Shiv had simply committed to Tom, truly, in their marriage, he likely would have supported her in doing whatever she wanted, even becoming CEO, because he does love her AND it would have made him feel secure in her as his meal ticket. He’s not actually ambitious in the sense that he wants to run things— he agreed to be Matsson’s empty suit in the US in exchange for the title (and paycheck) of CEO. He just wants security and money and would have been easy to placate, but Shiv couldn’t give him what he wanted/needed so he got it elsewhere.[/quote]
