OP, I'm sorry your DD has a chronic illness, but at this point it is difficult to believe much you have to say.  It was poor planning on your part if you wanted her to  miss a week of her internship for the family vacation.  Accepting a competitive internship means accepting the responsibility of ALL the internship -- especially if others were willing to commit to the entire length.

If she's sick, that is something different.  Others have asked what the mystery ailment is and whether a doctor recommended the time off.  Is this the case?  Then you could have phrased it differently and I'm sure most people would have been quite sympathetic to her situation.

You've changed your story so many times, it no longer makes sense.

A long planned family vacation =/= telecommuting from grandmother's.

Best thing to get from an internship is a great letter of recommendation.  Good luck on that.[/quote]
