Whats sad is that their are people, living in the same area, who make much less yet have no issues at all making ends meet. At some point you need to realize that it's your fault for not having enough money at the end of the month, and not the tax rates for where you live or the cost of living for where you live.
I choose not to send my kids to some ghetto school with a bunch of drug dealers. It's just logical, and you would too if you had the money.
You obviously are blind to the fact that the DC area (Northern VA for instance) has some of the best public schools in the nation. Not all public schools are bad. If you are not making it on 375K per year, then you should get no sympathy considering that you choose to send your kids to private schools when it is absolutely not necessary. Additionally, you also appear to believe that nothing bad or illegal happens in private schools. I personally know people who went to top-tier prep schools, many years ago, in the DC area that engaged in illegal activities including drugs and underage drinking. Stop lying to yourself and just admit that you fail at managing your money. Honestly, the only way people like yourself are going to change your outlook on money is by losing it all and having to struggle.
Who said anything about private? They go to public school, and in order to get into the top schools in McLean,va or in DC, you need to live there. That means that you are going to spend an arm and a leg. At least $700 or $800k, and the more desirable parts are going to be even higher.
You are missing the point here... Stop being so narrow minded and think about living within your means. If necessary downsize and live a simpler life. A sensible person wouldn't have financial issues when you make 375K per year.
And I don't. Never said I did.
