I somehow make it work as a single mother making $8 an hour as it's damn near impossible finding a job with my grad degree, with a deadbeat ex paying less than $400 a month in child support and receiving absolutely no help from my mommy or daddy seeing as how my mom killed herself when I was a kid and my dad choose his new family over me. Fuck You. Find a real problem.

We make ~325k per year. We honestly have more money than we know what to do with, and it's not like we're living in a crappy house or being super frugal. I just can't wrap my head around making 50k more and feeling strapped.

Anonymous wrote:Hi, Looking over your monthly budget none of your expenses are exuberant for DC. Except maybe since your kids are that young you probably don't need tutors, but you know best for them. If you try really hard with you might be able to shave a couple hundred here or there but the effort will be enormous and the payoff would be small.
Your best bet is using your time/effort looking for other ways to increase your income.
And for people complaining, a $500000 income in DC is not that much since expenses are so high here. For example the $2500 the OP has left over will pay for just 4 or 5 nice dinners out for the entire month when you include a sitter and a cab.

At some point you need to realize that it's your fault for not having enough money at the end of the month, and not the tax rates for where you live or the cost of living for where you live.
I choose not to send my kids to some ghetto school with a bunch of drug dealers. It's just logical, and you would too if you had the money.
You obviously are blind to the fact that the DC area (Northern VA for instance) has some of the best public schools in the nation. Not all public schools are bad. If you are not making it on 375K per year, then you should get no sympathy considering that you choose to send your kids to private schools when it is absolutely not necessary. Additionally, you also appear to believe that nothing bad or illegal happens in private schools. I personally know people who went to top-tier prep schools, many years ago, in the DC area that engaged in illegal activities including drugs and underage drinking. Stop lying to yourself and just admit that you fail at managing your money. Honestly, the only way people like yourself are going to change your outlook on money is by losing it all and having to struggle.
Who said anything about private? They go to public school, and in order to get into the top schools in McLean,va or in DC, you need to live there. That means that you are going to spend an arm and a leg. At least $700 or $800k, and the more desirable parts are going to be even higher.
You are missing the point here... Stop being so narrow minded and think about living within your means. If necessary downsize and live a simpler life. A sensible person wouldn't have financial issues when you make 375K per year.
