I really just can't imagine most juniors and seniors choosing to live with a roommate for 4 years and an all access meal plan instead of a kitchen. Singles are still basically unavailable to anyone who doesn't have accomodations. At least for my child and their friends, a nicer dorm still doesn't make up for privacy and independence.

I lived on campus at W&M for all four years. Roommates and most comprehensive meal plan all the way through. It was fantastic![/quote]

It's more expensive for a worse experience. One year of living in a nice dorm + the all access meal plan is $14437.

Almost nowhere off campus would be more expensive even when you add in grocery costs.
