I am Black American. I'm not carrying my "papers". This is not the fugitive slave act. Plus, this is one time I believe we are the model minority. Haven't heard of any American blacks being caught up in the immigration thing. What my black friends talk about is how the other races were so afraid of being "othered" and want to be white and assimilate so badly, they are SHOCKED that they are being targeted. It's as if black people didn't try to warn y'all it wouldn't go well.
I don’t think Latinos are “shocked” that they are targeted. They’ve been mistreated for a long time now. Also Black Americans are no more likely to be profiled than White Americans. Black Africans are being targeted though, there are not nearly as many as Latinos so there’s not as much news.
My black friends are not worried. Honestly, our chances of being detained are much smaller. I'm speaking about American blacks. I think Africans have a lot more to be concerned about.
