Colleges do not care about high school soccer. But again that's not the point of playing soccer for your high school.
They care if they know there are mls next or ecnl players. Having a higschool team ranked nationally also is gonna bring interest. Gonzaga is number 1 in the area right? For sure D1 scouts are there.
So what you're saying is that recruiters only care about MLSN or ECNL. You even said it yourself. So stubborn and dumb.
No D1 coach is traveling to watch Gonzaga or any "Number 1" team in the area. As coaches have expressed to me and I'm sure is well known, you can't gauge the level of a player who is playing against other HS team. They need to watch players play against other ECNL or MLS Next level kids. It makes sense! That's why college coaches focus on showcases and BIG tournaments so they can sit and watch top kids play against top kids over and over. Now who knows, there may be a local D1 coach that has something going on nearby and may pop in for a "big HS game", but I bet that is rare! With that said...I love HS soccer and every kid I know loves HS soccer and, for the record, I don't know of one kid that has made a local HS roster or at least has gotten any playing time and plays rec soccer. They are mostly ECNL, ECNL-R, EDP-D1 or D2, and NCSL D1 kids at the very least. You have to be a year round soccer player to make any HS team that I know of.
