The board also is abysmal at holding MCSP staff accountable. Brian Hull, who oversees the department that handles safety and security, is a golden boy of the board, despite the abysmal state of safety and security. And despite the fact that his department was responsible for the failures of chief safety officer Ed Clarke who was fired in June of last year for failing to keep up with state-mandated reporting on serious incidents, and the embarrassing hiring and departure of his replacement, chief Pam Wheeler-Taylor, who quit in November once she realized the mess she'd gotten herself into.

Brian Hull, and his subordinate Dana Edwards who directly oversees security and safety, should be getting flamed in board meetings regularly for this mess.[/quote]

Need to also go above MCPS and look at the state level. For example, there's a proposal right now by Maryland Democrats to drop penalties to students who commit crimes and disruptive behavior at the schools. Parents need to wake up and be more aware about the bills that our politicians are passing. [/quote]
