It's because there has been a strong tendency over the decades in the U.S. to "other" Arabs because they are Muslim. Learning that many Arabs (the majority in the U.S.) are in fact not just Christian, but the direct descendants of the earliest Christians, induces cognitive dissonance. I joke with my Christian Arab DH that while my ancestors in Europe were worshiping stones and trees, his in the Levant were debating the finer points of the trinity.
Don’t be too quick to speak. Lots of people worship rocks, trees, etc, and why I do not know. You would think that with free public education and free libraries and the internet, our society would be more educated and advanced. We are the most advanced our civilization and society have ever been, with amazing technology and knowledge about science, and there are people who worship trees and rocks. Did they not pay attention during science classes? So backward.
Don't stop there. They worship new random ideologies apparently born from some rocks and some trees, clearly not deep thought and evidence. And they workship some supposed Native American hs. Or the latest book by the most popular TV personality, or the most hateful celebrity with just the right narrative.
