I think Stephen King is one of the best at character development. He grabs you right off the hook and he paints his characters as if they're truly alive. If your criteria is that anything that isn't literary art (whatever you decide to define that as, I guess), then I'd say the majority of books discussed on here are lowbrow. [/quote]
