If you are asking this question at all means you are clogging up the left lane. Just stay in the right lane unless you can efficiently pass. It shouldn’t take more than 10 seconds to pass. And that is generous. [/quote]

Talking specifically to ICC drivers here,  If I'm going 70 and passing traffic continually, [b]I am not moving over so you can go 80. Sorry.[/b]

Also if I'm going 70 and after you tailgate annoyingly and I then move into a clear center lane, don't start going 71 mph, hit the gas pal!

This explains the slow people in the left lane. I always wondered what they were thinking. I regularly drive 64W from Richmond to Charlottesville, and people camp out in the left lane going the speed limit all the time. They literally do not understand the rules of the road. I drive over the speed limit, but if there's a clear stretch, I move into the right lane. It slows all of us down for me to presume that whatever speed I'm going is the fastest anyone shall be allowed to go.[/quote]

No it is not. You are doing the opposite, trying to exceed or define the "flow of traffic".

But the worst jagoffs are the ones that don't even give you 2 seconds to move over, they just try some dangerous pass on the right move. Sometimes weaving all the way to the right shoulder and then back across to "their lane".

Move over to let someone by? Sure. I'll do so as soon as it is safe and convenient. Until then, you can wait. You can go 70 behind me or 55 behind the center lane traffic. Your choice.[/quote]

If you aren’t going to do it in a timely manner then I go to the right lane. It shouldn’t take more than 10-15 seconds.

I guess the good thing about having so many left-lane vigilantes is that the right lane is usually clear. I just cruise on by on the right.
