I find it really weird to come to a foreign country then dump on their very common traditions and customs. But I’ll give you this, it’s a fit for British behavior.
Unfortunately, it’s not just a British behavior. It’s become trendy and ‘progressive’ to dump on American traditions and cultures. I’m a child of two immigrants and have noticed this shift over the past decade or so. Especially in this board - any chance to disparage American traditions is welcomed and celebrated. Personally, I love the cards. Photo cards, letters, regular cards. I display them for a few weeks and my kids love them. FWIW, I’m not even Christian.
Dumping on American traditions is whatever to me. I don't think this country is perfect and some of the stuff we do is really weird. What I think is out of control is people thinking Western Europe is some kind of utopia. You see it all over this board from people who say they're well traveled - everyone in Europe is apparently thin and beautiful and well-dressed at all times, they're all well educated, no one is tacky, there are no suburbs (??), no one is poor, their lifestyle is perfect, everyone is happy and content and fulfilled. It's so bizarre to me.
