Love this thread, love to see it pop up. Here are some of mine and the reasons my DH or I shot them down: Daisy (deemed too cute and not a "real name by DH, I love it) Marigold (ridiculous to DH, but I adore it) Summer (too hippy-dippy to DH, I think it's elegant and soothing) Flora (too old lady to DH, I think it sounds fresh and inviting) Violetta (we decided too close to Violet, and we know two Violets) Hugo (too French, we are not French) King (seemed arrogant, I still love it, my brother and SIL wound up using it as a middle name and I am glad) Ephram (we are not Jewish) Mordecai (we are not Jewish)
Love the bolded! P.s.: Hugo is used in many languages.
I know but when we ran it by a couple people, the first thing they both said (separately, on different occasions) was "oh, very French!" and we felt like within our families and social circle it would come off as too pretentious for that reason. We found a name we like more anyway.
