The horrific thought that this sweet little girl may NOT be coming back, safely---is heart-breaking. If someone she knew was involved with the circumstances leading to her disappearance, when/if THAT comes out - THEY should be held accountable to the full extent of the law for the time they took from law enforcement resources to look for her. If a stranger took her - the same, punish them to the full extent of the law. I know the main focus is/should be - on finding out what happened to her and, hopefully, finding closure one way or another...but I also do wish (and think there's a valuable lesson to be learned here/or reminded of!), that more media attention would be paid to reminding parents/caregivers/guardians how VERY important (and yes...it 'should' be a GIVEN, but look at the basic circumstances in this particular case!) it is to give ALL your undivided attention to any children in your care (be it your own kids, your grandkids, kids you babysit, etc...). Pedophiles, kidnappers/murderers/rapists, traffickers, ANYONE wishing to snatch a child or find a victim - look for opportunities/'easy targets'. We *have* to be diligent, fully focused, and responsible for these precious children in our care. Don't assume ANY place is safe, or that you can look away/become distracted/let the children monitor themselves/etc...for even a second. That's when bad things happen. It's a missed opportunity for that NOT to be part of focus here...
+1 You're so right. I work in an Elementary school, part time and also work in retail at a local department store. I also have occasion to witness the lack of parental and adult supervision, while going about my errands and personal shopping. I even see it in my own neighborhood where little kids are often left alone to occupy themselves in their yards. So people people are neglectful when it comes to the children under their care. They do not stay aware of what their kids are doing or who they are with. Obviously, the child does not deserve anything bad happening to them, but the adults watching them have to learn to be more diligent and watchful, along with children being taught - at a very young age - what to try to do to get out of a dangerous situation.
