If someone she knew was involved with the circumstances leading to her disappearance, when/if THAT comes out - THEY should be held accountable to the full extent of the law for the time they took from law enforcement resources to look for her. If a stranger took her - the same, punish them to the full extent of the law.
I know the main focus is/should be - on finding out what happened to her and, hopefully, finding closure one way or another...but I also do wish (and think there's a valuable lesson to be learned here/or reminded of!), that more media attention would be paid to reminding parents/caregivers/guardians how VERY important (and yes...it 'should' be a GIVEN, but look at the basic circumstances in this particular case!) it is to give ALL your undivided attention to any children in your care (be it your own kids, your grandkids, kids you babysit, etc...). Pedophiles, kidnappers/murderers/rapists, traffickers, ANYONE wishing to snatch a child or find a victim - look for opportunities/'easy targets'. We *have* to be diligent, fully focused, and responsible for these precious children in our care. Don't assume ANY place is safe, or that you can look away/become distracted/let the children monitor themselves/etc...for even a second. That's when bad things happen. It's a missed opportunity for that NOT to be part of focus here...

Anonymous wrote:So many "thoughts" have gone through my head about this story ~ over the last few weeks, and some have already expressed similar thoughts/opinions (maybe the Mom should have been paying more attention, maybe the whole scenario sounds a bit suspicious, maybe the Mom shouldn't be having one child after another - at her age, etc...) All reasonable conclusions about some of the circumstances that surround this story - and natural human reactions. THAT BEING SAID---even though I, personally, would have been watching my child in a different way -- the bottom line is ~ AN INNOCENT, SWEET, AND VULNERABLE LITTLE GIRL IS MISSING! She did *not* deserve to be taken, from those who love her - and she had to be terrified! The more time that passes...the more I fear for her safety, and lose hope of her return. Besides all my other thoughts on the circumstances that unfolded ~ THAT'S THE PART THAT HURTS MY HEART AND REMAINS THE MOST IMPORTANT!

The risk of abduction is remarkably low, the lowest it’s ever been in history. Yes it happens, and lightning can also strike your child. I just can’t believe that when this is clearly a case where the child is taken by a stranger and meant to be harmed in a horrible way, the focus is on the “neglect” of the mother who dared to take her children to the playground while helping her niece with her homework in her car.
First she wasn't watching her young children or she would have noticed a man luring her 5 year old into a van. Then she waited an HOUR to call the police - WTH??
Ok I am PP and reading these responses and I finally get it. I was trying to figure out why the media coverage was so inconsistent and inaccurate and why so many people are just like - well it was the mom’s fault her child got abducted. It’s because the child was an “other” and the mom was an “other”. If she were a blue eyed blond little girl, there would be a well-controlled media message to GET THIS GIRL FOUND AND HOME AND SAFE, thoughts and prayers for the family, protectiveness for the family, and focus on finding her instead of placing blame on the mother.
if she were blue eyed blonde girl from UMC parents sure. if she were a blue eyed blonde girl from a “trumpkin” rural area no. if anything there would be more suspicion and more judgment.
