The Jews believe Jesus exists. He was considered a Rabbi in fact The Muslims agree Jesus exists but dont think he was crucified but went straight to Heaven. Vast Majortiy of Academic Schollars think he was a person as plenty of evidence Perhaps the Hindus deny it soley as it goes against the whole concept of their religion that has no heaven or hell.
Or perhaps the Jews, Christians, and Muslims need to believe he existed or it pretty much nullifies the basis of their Abrahamic religion. If Jesus didn't exist, your entire religious world would crumble, you'd have to admit that you were wrong, and there goes the very important control over the lives, the wallets and the blind faith of millions of people.
The historicity of Jesus has NO bearing on any aspect of the Jewish faith. If we found out tomorrow that Jesus was a man who walked the gallilee giving parables, and was then crucified by Pilate - or if we learned that the gospel authors and Paul were reporting a legend - it would not effect the truth or falsity of any trend of Judaism. Also please tell me which synogogue controls millions of people. Mine sometimes has trouble getting a prayer quorom on weekday mornings.
Seriously. And PP, don't talk about Israeli political control because it's completely different from Judaism as a religion. There are only 15-17 million Jews in the world and we have no central authority. Pretty hard to do the mind-control you're referring to with the level of decentralization we've ended up having, largely as a result of persistent attempts by others to exterminate us.
