That's hilarious - all that happened here is proof the Sauds can be brutal people, even to their own. Holding a green card does not make him American; it makes him a Saud with a green card. He chose to go back to Turkey and go into the Saud embassy. He knew the risks.
He didn't have a green card. The more pertinent question is: why does the US think it can hold KSA accountable for what it does with its citizens in a third country? For what ANY country does with its citizens anywhere? In what way is the US a party to these events? In other words, what is a good response to the Saudis saying - what's it to you? I know Halloween is coming but the global policeman costume has been fraying at the seams for quite some time, and it seems no one is particularly frightened.
Are you serious? The US can legally take any number of steps in response. The Global Magnitsky Act requires the US government to investigate and if the Saudi government is found complicit, to enact sanctions. It is unbelievable how protective some posters here of the Saudi government.
Does it require to investigate or does it allow to investigate? I'm not at all protective of Saudis - what do I care? I'm simply mocking the hypocrisy inherent in the US pretending that human rights matter.
