http://www.wusa9.com/news/local/falls-church/debate-over-jeb-stuart-high-name-change-continues/476748538 Sounds like Ryan forgot that he voted in support of "Stuart"........
No. He voted in favor of getting rid of "J.E.B. Stuart" and allowing the community to decide whether "Stuart High School" without the initials was an acceptable "compromise" name. It clearly isn't. Over 80% of the votes were against "Stuart High School." It would be ridiculous to make that the new name, and Ryan has correctly pointed that out.
You don't believe in rules do you? Do you always want to change them every time you don't get the result you desire? First, we were told we would go by a community vote. The community voted by about 2/3 to keep Jeb Stuart. Then, we were told we would form a committee. Half of the Ad Hoc committee--the half from outside the community voted to change. The other half--made up of community members--voted to keep Jeb Stuart. Meanwhile, the slots to speak at SB meetings were manipulated in the early meetings to favor those who wanted change. FOIA'd emails indicated that Evans had desired this change for sometime and worked with "changers"--many from outside the community. FOIA also indicates that the "massive resistance" reason for the Jeb Stuart name was bogus. Evans or Hynes made clear that the "massive resistance" reason was important to getting change. And, even though it is indicated in the FOIA through minutes from old SB meetings that this was not the case, they kept citing that. Again, the community voted early on that they wished to keep the name Jeb Stuart. Evans and Hynes did not like that result, so they changed the rules. Over and over again.
