Besides sounds like he was hoping they wouldn't follow up with him and while that may be wishful thinking why involve the op if the wish came true?   Even if his DNA is not a match if he was in the same room or house where an assault occurred he could be charged with accessory.  Op obviously has some reason for mistrust beyond this incident which she doesn't disclose.  This must have been the last straw whether or not he's guilty of anything.[/quote]
