With a little bit of distance (having watched the documentary a while ago), I'm left with the feeling that probably Steven Avery did kill Teresa Halbach.  The information which the documentary glossed over which really bothers me is:
- Torture of the family cat.  This is not a "youthful indiscretion"
- Domestic abuse alleged by his fiancée and rape allegation by a young female relative
- Coincidence that the last place Teresa Halbach was ever seen just happened to be the Avery place (this evidence cannot have been planted)
- Barb Janda's (Brendan's mom/ Steven's sister) inclination to believe that Steven did this (and that he would be so selfish as to try to place blame on her son)

What seems most likely to me is that that Manitowoc & State Police were utterly convinced that he was guilty, and they were going to make sure he was convicted.  It seems unbelievable that the key to Teresa's car was just laying there the whole time and not seen in how many searches?  Until the car was found, then poof! there it was.  Also the searchers who enter the giant junkyard and within a few minutes zero in immediately on where the car was parked.  [/quote]
