The following potential sites for a BASIS DC primary school have been investigated as of this writing: • Ward 3 – 5025 Wisconsin Ave NW • Ward 4 - 6200 2nd St NW • Ward 6 - 375 E St SW • Ward 5 - 711 Edgewood St NE Additionally, we have considered the following options in Wards 1 and 2: • Ward 1 –3224 16th St NW • Ward 2 – 909 E Street NW
A charter in ward 3? That actually may be thinking of offering PK3?? Wonders never cease.
Can you explain your comment to those of us who aren't in the know. Ward 4 parent here. Also, PK3 is not offered. It's K-4th only (app was amended). Still don't get joke.
Only 1 charter (Wash Latin in its first, temporary location) was sited in Ward 3. The notion of charters in DC has always been to serve disadvantaged kids and most applications go to great lengths to say they will locate in Ward 7 or 8 (where most are) and they often wind up in 4 or 5 based on facility availability (or - according to charter critics - because they never really meant to serve poor kids in the first place).
PP's point is that there are no charters in Ward 3... nor any PK3.
