They tossed 6-7 addresses in here and no one knows if any are likely or feasible. But charters draw city-wide so it doesn't really matter where they are. Parents who like the model will travel.
No idea what JKLM means but I personally will NOT travel. Our kids got into Sela and I loved the model so I commuted. That lasted 3 days. By Wednesday, I was looking for a nearby school and by Friday, I pulled them out. I do not travel well.

I agree re 3224 16th Street - BUT there's a snag at Walter Reed right now so DCI may or may not be vacating for another year. DCI is trying to break through the log jam but are at the mercy of the Army.
909 E Street would have 0 space for playground / outdoor PE. It's a block further from the national mall. Awful idea. 375 E Street SW seems almost as bad.
6200 2nd Street is an actual school building and is walkable to Takoma metro. Edgewood NE is not far from RI Ave Metro.
Ward 3 seems a non starter.
Who are you? How do you know everything about all these sites right away? It's creeping me out. And I mean that in a good way. How do you know so much?

• Ward 3 – 5025 Wisconsin Ave NW
• Ward 4 - 6200 2nd St NW
• Ward 6 - 375 E St SW

A charter in ward 3? That actually may be thinking of offering PK3?? Wonders never cease.
Can you explain your comment to those of us who aren't in the know. Ward 4 parent here.
Also, PK3 is not offered. It's K-4th only (app was amended). Still don't get joke.
Only 1 charter (Wash Latin in its first, temporary location) was sited in Ward 3.
The notion of charters in DC has always been to serve disadvantaged kids and most applications go to great lengths to say they will locate in Ward 7 or 8 (where most are) and they often wind up in 4 or 5 based on facility availability (or - according to charter critics - because they never really meant to serve poor kids in the first place).

I have an older child at BASIS MS far away from my house. LOVE IT. I have a younger child at a local elementary near my house. LOVE IT.
1. Would they be at the same campus? I know they don't know which campus, but the same or 2 different ones?
2. My younger child has severe emotional needs -- does anyone have experience with how BASIS handles something like that for MS? (E.g. current school waived her tests all last year because she was having panic attacks, even though she is really smart -- tested 3 grades above grade level the year before when she was less of an emotional mess. Would basis accommodate her? She does have an IEP and an autism diagnosis.)
3. If I choose NOT to go to Basis next year (due to severe emotional needs), would it then screw us over in 5th grade eventually because current kids would have priority over siblings?
No idea, but any rational person would agree that current students should take priority over incoming siblings.
Yes, although because of that reason, I plan to write against their app. My emotionally unstable daughter cannot be moved into a new school for 3rd grade next year. But, I'd hope that she'd be ready for a new school in 3 years, and basically she won't have a spot anymore because they are creating a ES that takes her sibling preference away.

3224 16th Street, NW PLEASE!!! I know that campus and love that space. I am definitely not going to some of these really far places. But 909 E Street NW is also fantastic since that's near the MS.
