So what? The point is that often when we decide to have kids, we have expectations for how and who our kids will be and what we'll mean to them in their lives. Those expectations often don't meet the reality, so rather than be sad about that, it's helpful to embrace all the really great and unexpected joys in the reality of the parenting experience. At the end of the day, having children isn't about making new people to meet our expectations and fulfill our dreams; it's about sheparding new people to be their best selves in the world.[/quote]
