The two main guys were from Italy, and they were "turned" a long time ago, during the renaissance I think?  They thought Katherine comminted suicide becuase they fought over her.  The main girl, Elena, was super annoying in the book, I think she was a perfect cheerleader type, blonde, and HAD to have Stefan and make him hers.  Very different from the TV show.   Damon had special powers and turned into a crow I think....man it's been a long time...haha.  I just finished the last Sookie Stackhouse book so I'm trying not to get them confused.

My Husband laughs every Thursday when this comes on, he thinks it's super funny but he goes along with it, haha.

Also, I can't remember where I read this from, but someone asked about that whole period thing.  A couple authors said it wouldn't bother them (vampires that they made up) because it was "dead blood".  [/quote]
