Everyone in this area is busy - some people are less busy, but still talk about being busy. It's no excuse to be an a-hole, which seems what OP described. Some people seem to go out of their way to be an a-hole, OP. It really, truly has nothing to do with you. It is a reflection on how they feel about their own rotten lives.
