My child's MS does not have the slower paced foreign language. He will be starting a language in 7th. So how would he repeat in 9th? He just wouldn't take a language in 8th? Also, I have the same question about taking Algebra in 7th.
Algebra in 7th means Geometry in 8th, e.g. you're talking about 2 HS classes in MS. If good grades are that important - you better slow-down now if possible. What is his current class? Grades?
I don't see how to slow down. He's in IM now in 6th.
EXACTLY and I have asked the High School Counselor and they didn't really have an answer. This is because DD had 97% in IM, 93% in Algebra and now 87% in Geometry. They said, "oh she is doing great". But I know Pre-Calc in 10th is too fast but there just doesn't seem to be an option unless you slow the pace in MS. There should be a 3 year Algebra 2/Precalc path. In retrospect, I should have put DD in Math 7 in 6th grade, but she truly was ready for IM --- and when I asked her about it she very strongly wanted to take IM. Had B in Qt1, A in QTR 2 and 87 on Final. It isn't too hard but she is by no means a Math geek and works slow and methodically and 10th and 11th grade Math is going to be really tough. If she had been in 2.0 she would not have been in Compacted and this problem would not have existed but I guess my own fault. Anyone have a suggestion? It really is quite crazy that a little bit above average Math student takes Calculus in 11th grade. But once you are on the path, without significant signs of struggling, you are on it.....
