Algebra in 7th means Geometry in 8th, e.g. you're talking about 2 HS classes in MS.
If good grades are that important - you better slow-down now if possible. What is his current class? Grades?
I don't see how to slow down. He's in IM now in 6th.
EXACTLY and I have asked the High School Counselor and they didn't really have an answer. This is because DD had 97% in IM, 93% in Algebra and now 87% in Geometry. They said, "oh she is doing great". But I know Pre-Calc in 10th is too fast but there just doesn't seem to be an option unless you slow the pace in MS. There should be a 3 year Algebra 2/Precalc path. In retrospect, I should have put DD in Math 7 in 6th grade, but she truly was ready for IM --- and when I asked her about it she very strongly wanted to take IM. Had B in Qt1, A in QTR 2 and 87 on Final. It isn't too hard but she is by no means a Math geek and works slow and methodically and 10th and 11th grade Math is going to be really tough. If she had been in 2.0 she would not have been in Compacted and this problem would not have existed but I guess my own fault. Anyone have a suggestion? It really is quite crazy that a little bit above average Math student takes Calculus in 11th grade. But once you are on the path, without significant signs of struggling, you are on it.....
I think you're worrying too much given she is doing very well and probably wouldn't like being held back from her peers. I have a 9th grader, also not math focused, on the same pathway. Alg 2 has not been a challenging class, it's the same pace as the previous courses. I've looked at the Pre-calc syllabus and it's not a big leap either. These courses are much different from classes with the same name when I was HS. That is why kids are taking them younger now, it isn't that everyone is being pushed ahead. A lot of what my daughter is doing in Alg 2 this year is exactly the same as what I did in Alg 1 in 9th grade.
But if you really want to slow pace, there are still remedial HS students even though it's not spelled out in the 2.0 literature. There is a course called "Bridge to Alg. 2" that most HS seem to carry http://coursebulletin.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/CourseDetails/Index/3053. There is also a two year Alg II sequence at our school http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/curriculum/math/high/algebra2/. Either of those would drop her back a year.

Otherwise your child will be starting high school in the whole. Another way to avoid the grade is showing is for a B grade or lower don't have them take the final exam and the grade won't show. Per the crazy rules, if a child doesn't pass the exam(or take it) then no college credit AND also, no showing up on the college transcript.

Correct. It's even stated outright in the high school course catalogue.
It does need to be repeated in 9th grade (or MS) retaking later in HS regular rules for repeating classes apply (i.e. both attempts appear on the transcript). But for exact details talk with a HS counselor.
The above two answers contradict each other. The question is, if an MS students gets B or C for a HS course, and later takes the class in HS again and obtains A, will the fact that he already took this course in MS be evident in his transcript or not? The first answer says no, the second answer says yes. Which one is correct?
