Family of 4..two teens..$150-$175 a week + 1 dinner out. Includes packed lunches for all.
This is seriously impressive. What sorts of things are you eating if you don't mind me asking? Do you look for sales, etc.? We have similarly aged kids and probably spend double that. We eat healthy but don't go crazy with 100% organic or anything like that.
I agree, is that a lot of ramen and rice a roni in there?
I definitely shop sales with a big extra freezer in the basement that is always stocked so I never really pay full price. I use coupons but don't obsess..most weeks I save a few dollars. I have never served rice a roni or ramen though we do have pasta once a week (kids favorite). Non perishables are also stock piled on sale. I serve vegetables and fresh fruit fruit with dinner and fruit in kids lunches daily. No soda or bottled water. Few organics. I don't know. We don't really have a budget. We could afford more but that is what we spend. Around 100 at Giant every week plus about once a month or two a stock up trip to TJ or Sams.
