Honest question-- what is the purpose of a play table? When they are small can't they just play on the floor?
It's easier for them to do crafts and eat (when we're not all eating at the big table). They can get in and out of the chairs easier. It makes a good kids table when we have a larger crowd over for a meal. We have the KidKraft farmhouse table - it comes with 4 chairs for $110 on Amazon. The wood is soft, so we do have some scratches/dents on the top. But it's very sturdy - my overweight parents have sat in the chairs without issue. The top wipes off easily. We also have an Ikea table and I agree, they're super cheap, not sturdy, and doesn't clean up as well. I would choose the KidKraft table over it in a heartbeat.
