[/quote] Yes, this is generally true because those countries grew rapidly, and the wealth there is relatively new. I'm guessing that the noveau riche of the US back in the 1800's were regarded with much disdain by the upper class British. This is nothing new. Those cultures do highly value family over the individual. There are pros/cons to it. The idea of sticking your elderly parent in a nursing home is not well received in those cultures like they do here. However, along with the wealth and greed that has permeated those countries, this part of their culture is changing, too, sadly.[/quote]
