You quoted me. I've lived here since 1994. I've never run across a lot of Indians in any neighborhood I've lived in (Mount Pleasant, Capitol Hill, and now Glover Park). What neighborhood do you live in?

When did you live on Capitol Hill? I am Indian and live there now. There are quite a few of us on the Hill.

Because I loved him, and I knew that he was the love of my life, as well as my dearest friend. I was 100% committed to him, and I knew he was to me. So it started to seem reasonable to marry. BTW, I find Indians from India annoying because of their arrogance. My husband is thankfully not like this.

Umm I've never posted on here about this Why can't I have an opinion? I've been to India 5 times. I stayed for a month each time, spending time in Mumbai, Goa, Delhi, and several other places on my way to the lower reaches of the Himalayas. For all I know my kids will turn out damaged and horribly behaving adults. You never know.

Yes, this is generally true because those countries grew rapidly, and the wealth there is relatively new. I'm guessing that the noveau riche of the US back in the 1800's were regarded with much disdain by the upper class British. This is nothing new.

Those cultures do highly value family over the individual. There are pros/cons to it. The idea of sticking your elderly parent in a nursing home is not well received in those cultures like they do here. However, along with the wealth and greed that has permeated those countries, this part of their culture is changing, too, sadly.

New poster and I agree that there are few Indian families living in the District proper. Most are smart enough to know you can get more for your money further out.

did you read the article or just look at the pix? The reason why they did this is because people with money were cheating by buying off teachers, test proctors, etc... They wanted to level the playing field. Not saying it's right. But these people don't really have the types of opportunities we have here.

But you are right, when groups of people cheat, generally people dislike them, kiind of like the big corporations or rich people that cheat on taxes and/or have offshore bank accounts to avoid US taxes. The public generally hate these kinds of people.

In what world? Every time a black person is mentioned on DCUM, a cyber race war breaks out. Even when black people aren't relevant, someone will still bring up AAs at the first opportunity. It is very popular to shit on black people here while claiming you are talking about "culture," not outright race.
