As for the OP: Yes, this is a bummer. BTSN isn't very useful, anyway. I would send an email to the child's teacher/s a week before, explain why you will be out and asking her/him to share any handouts with you electronically and open up the opportunity for a meeting on a different day if there are things to discuss. Every year some school does something disrespectful to at least one religion. I've gotten tired of it, and now just do things like the above.[/quote]
