Meh. She is a mom who puts her social needs above her child's -- the baby can get lots of therapy as to why mommy never really loved them. My DH's mom was like that - she still is. Her friends come first - over her husband and kids. The girls turned out okay, but her her boys... messed up. Constantly needing attention and terrified of not being loved.
I'll preface this by saying I've never brought my baby into a bar. He's 2 now. That said, my mother had NO friends when I was a kid. None. She wasn't a particularly good mother even though she was always around - she was depressed and wallowed at home. I would have MUCH preferred that she have friends and take us out with her. You have no idea what this mom's circumstance is. Maybe her best friend lives across the country and was available to hang out for just one night, and her babysitter cancelled. Maintaining friendships through parenthood is REALLY hard. I suck at it. But sometimes it can take precedence over bedtime. It's good for kids to see parents with a healthy network of friends.
