Pulled pork is a specialty of the South and good things can happen with a can of Coke and a big piece of smoked or slow cooked meat. Coke is not my sweetener of choice but any aficionado of Southern cooking can tell you that it is an acceptable addition. And the number of calories of one can of soda added to the cooking liquid, and poured off at the end, would not be a big problem when you consider how many servings are in one pork shoulder. In other words, you are just being a dick. I also think that your pulled pork recipe lacks balance. A little sweetener would help a great deal. If you want to be a snob, you can go with honey or maple syrup. [/quote]
