Your love, advice, and time together as they get ready for the next step in their lives is hopefully what they will remember. Hopefully they will remember the help you gave in selecting a college or visiting schools, etc. Gifts are nice and it doesn't really matter what you give as long as it is heartfelt. Only on DCUM would people argue about the material things they give to their kids! As for my spouse, some of the best gifts he has given me are just things like taking care of our preschool son so that I could go to my high school reunion, and cooking and cleaning when I was sick. What did your parents give you when you graduated from high school?
Talk about "a given. " It's actually a GIFT when your spouse cares for his own child and chips in when you are sick? That's what spouses do every day. Sure, be appreciative and love him for it. But he shouldn't think of those things as "gifts" in the sense this thread is discussing.
