[/quote] +1 We recently renovated and put the sink on the island and stove on the wall opposite it (not directly behind sink). It has worked out well. Only change I'd perhaps have made was to make the island a bit deeper. Kids working on homework can't sit in the seat opposite the sink when I'm prepping dinner because they risk getting water on their papers. But, it's better than risking getting set on fire by the stove! My mom has a stove on her island and I'm never comfortable with the kids hanging out there while she's cooking. Also, we have a pretty deep sink so dirty dishes waiting for the dishwasher go in there and aren't in my line of sight.[/quote]
