I hate dishracks, so I will always vote no dishracks! After I'm done washing dishes I dry them all and put them away.

We have the built in dispenser for hand soap. Looking at a dish rack and sponges would make me crazy. It did make me crazy in our old sink, which was against the wall, so I'm not sure the sink placement is the issue.

I didn't want to have my back to my girls all the time, same for when we have casual company.
+1.
I've had both. Since moving to our new house and having this arrangement (sink in island), I get to see and chat with my kids much more often. With my DH and friends, too. This is a huge benefit I hadn't foreseen.
Anyway, my advice is to have the sink situated in the place with a nice view - so if there is a window, under the window. Or if not, in an island looking out across the room towards a window. I can't imagine washing dishes and looking at a blank wall.
