Your instinct to talk honestly to DH is spot on. Form a strategy to speak up next time. Ask him what he thinks about addressing this particular comment (even though it's after the fact, it's bad enough that I'd consider bringing it up). Most importantly, talk to DD about it, both about how it's important to enjoy food and to stay active, and about how we don't use mean words like that. If you elect not to talk to MIL (understandable) then just Let It Go....but be ready with your partner to deal with this differently next time.[/quote]
