Hardly bitter.  Just tired of college acceptance being viewed as a parental accomplishment.

Also tired of the AP tally, the 3 sports tally (unless child is a key member of a Varsity team) and community service done by ALL to check a box.

Based on what?   My kids go to great colleges and I never felt compelled to brag about it on DCUM.   But as someone who is very familiar with this process from the standpoint of working with students, I have a birds-eye view on the parental and community pressure these kids are under to look like they're doing it all.  Very few are even coming close.  Many are hanging on by a thread.  It's not healthy.
