Based on what? My kids go to great colleges and I never felt compelled to brag about it on DCUM. But as someone who is very familiar with this process from the standpoint of working with students, I have a birds-eye view on the parental and community pressure these kids are under to look like they're doing it all. Very few are even coming close. Many are hanging on by a thread. It's not healthy.

I think that it is better for parents to share their worries or heartbreak (for their child) here, than perhaps to share them with the other parents at their school.

Think of this of a support and cheerleading thread for better (your child in, great!) or for worse (your child was rejected because that other school is where they are meant to be!).

I think because there aren't that many posters with college age kids and definitely not that many in the application process in any given year.

The kids, if they are posting, are either on college confidential, or on Facebook. One of the few uses for Facebook for high school kids, other than posting homecoming pics and promposals, is posting college acceptances.

What is the point? Shouldn't the parents be allowed to comment? I would hope that the "kids" are too busy with the 5 APs; 3 sports; and community service activities to deal with some comment board.
