I'll be honest that I think we've got people with some pretty strong narcissistic traits in our family, but as far as I can tell, none of them actually suffer from the disorder. They don't actively lie or manipulate people, and they certainly haven't done anything to hurt other people. The fact that they have a moral compass seems to keep them reigned in. My SIL-to-be just seems to feed off showing everyone how much control she has over my brother; it's just entertainment to her. It doesn't matter who suffers as a result.
