A fairly recent ex of 2 years (who broke my heart) emailed me to tell me his Grandma passed away. I think he was reaching out because she and I had really liked each other and he thought I would want to know. I wrote back and nice neutral email back to him that expressed my sympathy and that was it. The same would be sufficient for you OP.[/quote]
