Nope, not even close but it is a good public school with loving teachers/staff and great kids.   We are planning on staying here as long as the schools serve our needs.  The local middle and high schools are not and option for us so we will have to reevaluate when we get to that point.  
The biggest draw is that it is a 15 min commute to my job and the housing cost is low enough that we can afford a big house and my spouse can stay and raise our children.  
As far as safety goes....no where is completely safe.  But in the 12 years we have lived here we have never been a victim of crime.  I felt comfortable walking my dog around the neighborhood late at night.  We lived in MoCo before we moved here and our car was broken into 3 times in a year.  
Another plus is that traffic is pretty light given the proximity of the city.
