Most women without jobs fall into the SAHM role once kids come along, so even without employment, such women contribute to the household. Fewer unemployed men follow that path. Therefore, women - moreso than men - are concerned about the possibility of being attached to a spouse who won't work outside or inside the home and contributes little or nothing to the household. That's why you see the difference between the sexes.[/quote]

I think women are, by and large, more focused on material things than men are. More concerned with having as nice a house as someone else. More concerned with having the latest clothes. More concerned with social status. Not all, certainly. And a non-trivial number of men are superficial twits. But, I'd say a 30 percent gap in this area is about right. [/quote]
