Shoulda woulda coulda, point is that a 150 HHI doesn't mean you are less wealthy than someone with a  300 HHI if you have lower housing costs.

Family A buys home for 300K has a 1800/month mortgage
Family B buys same home 10 years later for 800k has a 4000/month mortgage

there is no way I would buy an 800k house even if I could - a 4000k mortgage is insane. its a choice and there are perfectly nice homes in our neighborhood for 450k.  [/quote]
